Very informative and my reflection

Cyberbullying is a big issue these days, and we need to make our children/students aware of the negative effects that it can cause. Sometimes students think that if they don't say the negative words infront of the student then it won't affect them in the same way. They're wrong. Words make the difference and you can hurt someone emotionally even without seeing them; whether it be on the phone, email, discussion forums, or even your blog. Words have a big impact on a person, and students need to understand that. This is where cybersafety comes in.... schools, teachers and parents need to make their children aware of the steps to follow inorder to be safe on the internet. They need to know that they can not give personal information on the web, because it could be potentially dangerous and other people could hurt them or people they love.
From previous times, society is slowly changing now and everyone is becoming more aware of the dangers of cyberbullying, this is good but it can't stop there, we have to continously make sure that our children are making wise decisions. I have already mentioned that our school had the police come in and do a presentation on cyberbullying. They first had a theatre company do a little play for our grade 3s, 4s and 5 classes. The students enjoyed the play, because it was very funny and they learned the negative effects of cyberbullying. After the presentation they spoke to the students. Try to get your school to try out the police!

Computer & Internet Safety
With the advent and proliferation of computers at home, schools and in businesses, information technology and its availability is changing social and human behaviour. The Internet offers opportunities for communication and information sharing, however, the Internet can also present risks.

Crime Prevention Services (CPS) conducts ongoing research and development of programs that target youth and parents on how to safeguard their families on topics ranging from inappropriate messages to internet luring.

To address some of these challenges, Peel Regional Police has partnered with both of our school boards, the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, and developed a web based program to support our youth on the safe use of the Internet. The interactive program is available to parents and educators for use in the home or the classroom and can be accessed simply by clicking on Cyberproofed?.

CPS also offers presentations to groups of 25 persons or more on topics that include:

Cyberbullying (for youth and adults)
